Nsw Responsible Gambling Code Of Conduct

Agencies to implement the Code of Ethics and Conduct for NSW government sector employees. The implementation of the Code may be by way of incorporation in a Department Code of Conduct to form a single consolidated document, or by adoption separately. The first section of the Responsible Conduct of Gambling Course has four modules: Module 1 Government, gambling and legislation Module 2 Statutory signage requirements Module 3 Gambling inducements, player prizes, reward schemes and cash and cheque dispensing Module 4 Minors These modules will give the participants the context in which gambling in NSW is conducted. PROBLEM GAMBLING

Problem gambling is characterised by difficulties in limiting money and/or time spent on gambling which leads to adverse consequences for the gambler, others or for the community.

Possible problem gambling risk indicators may include a cluster of three or more of the following observed or reported signs:

  • Gambling every day of the week

  • Gambling continuously without taking a break for extended periods of time

  • Getting cash out from an ATM at the casino on multiple occasions

  • Trying to borrow “scam” money or sell valuables to others for gambling

  • Putting large win amounts back into the machine and keep playing

  • Friend or relatives call or arrive to ask if the person is still in the casino

  • Blaming the casino, the staff or gaming machines because they lost

  • Having an unrealistic perception about the chance/odds of winning

  • Suffering from depression and/or have thoughts of suicide due to gambling

  • Displaying anger, kicking machines, looking sad and/or crying

  • Trying obsessively to win on a particular machine

  • Spending too much time and/or money gambling

Pre- Commitment Program Star Assist

The Star Entertainment Group offers a pre-commitment program called Star Assist. This program offers Members of The Star Club the option to set a limit on usage time and/or gaming spend. Responsible Gambling Customer Liaison

All our casinos have trained customer liaison representatives who can provide information or referrals to assist our guests who may be experiencing gambling related problems.

Self-Exclusion (Self ban)

Our casinos provide the option for a person to self-exclude (ban) themselves from our gambling facilities. Our staff provide sensitive and confidential support to customers who wish to self-exclude. There is no need to make an appointment, simply approach a security officer or a gaming manager and ask to be self-excluded. You will need to bring your photo identification with you.

If a person does not wish to come to the casino to self-exclude/ban themselves they have the option of having the exclusion processed at a nominated Gambling Help Service centre. See the Making and Informed Decision brochure for more information on self exclusion.

Spend Limits

You can set your own personal spend limits online within your account. We also encourage your to personally set a play limit according to your individual circumstances for retail purchases.

Waiting periods

To help prevent sudden decisions to increase your spend limit, a 7-day waiting period always applies.

Exclude from online play

You can choose to exclude yourself from playing our online games for a minimum of 180 days, during which time you will not be able to access your account and will be required to contact us to re-activate your account after the exclusion period has ended.

Visit the My Settings section of your account when logged in to complete this process. Once excluded, this request cannot be cancelled.

Opt-out from marketing communications

When you exclude yourself from playing we automatically opt you out of our communications. Alternatively you can be opted out of receiving our communications without self-excluding by calling our Responsible Play Liaison Officers on 1300 138 132.

Contact Us

Call us on 1300 138 132 (during extended business hours) to ask to speak to a Responsible Play Liaison Officer. On request our officers can provide contact details for gambling-related support services as well as assist with excluding you from play, opting out of receiving communications or removing you from our player programs by deactivating your membership.

If English is not your first language, our Responsible Play Liaison Officers can connect you to a national translation service during your call and a three-way conversation can be held with a translator.
